Grooming Behavior, wood engraving, 4.5" x 6.5", 2001
Grooming Behavior tells the true story of a trip to the groomers. Snicklefritz (the cat) had developed some nappy dreds and was in need of help. Naturally, we took her to a nearby pet groomer. "Oh, no problem, just leave her here with me" said the groomer. We then received a call from the groomer shortly after we arrived home - "I can't groom Snicklefritz, can you come and get her?". The cat had gotten loose, bit the groomer, and scared the pants off of her. Although we felt bad for this woman (she had obviously been crying), it was in some way slightly comical - and a good reminder that our "pet" can revert to her ancestral ways at any time.
